Free Familiarisation Materials

We recommend children familiarise themselves with the multiple-choice layout of the test, content and examples of some types of questions they will face. To give all children the opportunity to experience sample questions across a range of question types in advance of the test, we provide 10 hours of free familiarisation materials. These are particularly useful for verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning tests as children may not have encountered these types of questions before. The exact timings for, and number of questions in, your local 11+ test may differ from those in our familiarisation and practice materials.

Familiarisation papers and practice papers each provide useful support when preparing for an 11+ test. Each set of materials has its own exclusive content, however they differ in a few ways. While familiarisation papers are freely available for download, practice papers are only accessible for purchase. Familiarisation papers are in PDF format for home printing, while practice papers come as printed booklets. Familiarisation papers aim for general familiarity with test styles, while practice papers offer comprehensive preparation.

Please note, private tutors or other organisations may not feature this page and/or these materials (or any part of them) on their websites, or copy, reproduce, distribute or otherwise use these materials or any part of their content without the prior consent of GL Assessment. Our Practice Papers

We offer practice papers in four specific areas: verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, English and maths, and there are three books (packs) available for each area as well as a bundle of all the books. Each book contains three question papers and answer sheets, as well as guidance for parents on the overall test experience. Please note, the different numbers on the books are simply for reference and do not indicate a difference in the level of difficulty between the books.

11+ tests vary from area to area. If you don’t know what type of tests your admissions authority uses, you may find it helpful to check their website or contact them direct.
